Although the term ‘borderline’ may suggest uncertainty, it accurately describes the ambiguous histologic and biologic features of these neoplasms and remains the most appropriate term. Accordingly, it has been recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the last four decades [2]. The majority of these tumors are associated with a favorable prognosis and the term ‘tumors of low malignant potential’ is not recommended.
